Biography Nabeshima Narimasa, the 10th feudal load of Saga Domain (1815-1871) was a Daimyo (Japanese feudal lord)born in Edo (presnt Tokyo prefecture) as a legitimate son of Nabeshima Nirinao. His childhood name was Sadamaru, and later changed to Narimasa and Naomasa. In addition, his artname was Kansou. he inheriated the family property at the age of 17 and carried out the administration reform in the Saga Domain, including the promotion of industry and the strengthening of military power. He also installed the modern weapons. After the Meiji Restoration, he served as a councilor in the new Meiji government and as Director of the Hokkaido Development Commission. He is reputed as one of the enlightened and capable lords of the late Edo period.
