Biography Togo Seiji (1897–1978) was a Western-style painter born in Kagoshima Prefecture. His given name was Tetsuharu, and he graduated from Aoyama Gakuin Junior High School. He studied under Arishima Ikuma before traveling to France, where he continued his artistic training in Lyon.
Togo became renowned for his elegant and fantastical depictions of women. He received the Japan Art Academy Award, later served as President of the Nika Association, and was elected a member of the Japan Art Academy.
