Artist Hiroshima Koho
Title Willow Village under Moon
Biography Hiroshima Koho (1889–1951) was a nihonga (Japanese-style) painter born in Tokushima Prefecture. His given name was Shintaro, and his art name was Koto. He studied Western-style painting at the Hakubakai Western Painting Research Institute, and later graduated from the Japanese Painting Department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He co-founded the Nihon Hanga Club (Japan Print Club) with Hasegawa Kiyoshi. He was active primarily in the Teiten (Imperial Art Exhibition) and was known for his realistic depictions of flowers and birds. He served as a judge for both the Teiten and the Shin-Bunten (New Ministry of Education Art Exhibition).
