Biography Kikkawa Reika(1875-1929) was a Japanese-style painter born in Tokyo. Son of Kikkawa Tansai, a Confucian scholar of the government. Studied under Hashimoto Chikanobu, a Japanese woodblock(ukiyoe) artist. Studied the Kano and Tosa schools of paintings under Kano Ryoshin and Yamana Tsurayoshi. Also studied under Hashimoto Gaho and Koyama Shotaro. Influenced by Reisen Yameie and created a new style of Yamato-e.
