Biography Takahama Kyoshi(1874-1959)was a Japanese Haiku poet born in Ehime Prefecture.

Shimomura Izan (1865-1949) was a Japanese painter and haiku poet born in Iyo (present Ehime Prefecture). Studied Chinese classics under Okamatsu Okoku and western style painting under Honda Kinkichiro and Koyama Shotaro. Studied haiku with Masaoka Shiki.

Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902) was a Japanese Haiku poet born in Ehime Prefecture. Aspired to politician under the influence of Feedom and People' Rights Movement. Dropped out of the department of Japanese literature, Tokyo Imperial University. Devoted himself to inovate "Tanka" Japanese poem.
