Biography Nishimura Zohiko(unknown years of birth and death) was a merchant of lacquer wares and a makieshi(craftsman sprinkling gold or silver power on lacquer) in Kyoto. Succeeded the ivory shop from Jiro Zaemon in Teramachi, Kyoto. The third head presented the framed painting of makie depicting Fugen Bosatsu on the elephant to the Bodai-ji Temple, and was called as "Zohiko".

Kamisaka Sekka(1866-1942) was a Japanese-style painter and designer born in Kyoto. Studied under Suzuki Zuigen of Shijo school at the age of 16. Studied the crafted design under Kishi Kokei, a designer in 1890. Studied and influenced by the Rimpa school as well. Established the Association of Katobi in 1907. Kamisaka Yukichi, a makieshi(craftsman sprinkling gold or silver power on lacquer) is his brother. Taught at the Kyoto City School of the Arts.
