Artist Sakaki Hyakusen
Title Arbor under the Tree
Biography Sakaki Hyakusen (1697-1752) was a Japanese nanga (Chinese-style painting) artist. In his early days, studied haiku under Kagami Shiko. Taught himself to paint and made painting his profession from the age of forty eight. His painting style varied from nanga to haiga (a style of Japanese painting). His works inspired Yosa Buson.

Hine Taizan (1813-1869) was a Japanese painter born in Senshu (present southern Osaka). Studied painting under Okada Hanko in Osaka. Later studied under Nukina Kaioku in Kyoto. also deeply influenced by Teyyo Somon. One of the most prominent Nanga (Chinese style painting) painters in Kyoto in the end of Edo period.
