Artist Seisetsu Shucho
Title Kanzan and Jittoku, with self-inscription
Biography Seisetsu Shucho(1745-1820) was a monk of Rinzai-shu sect and poet born in Iyo Province(present Ehime Prefecture). Studied under Higashiyama Shucho of Enkaku-ji Temple in Kamakura and succeeded the teachings. Studied Waka(Japanese poem) under Kagawa Kageki. Versed in painting, calligraphy, and tea ceremony.
