Biography Koda Shuetsu(1881-1933) was a lacquer artist born in Osaka. Moved to Kyoto and studied under Asai Chu. Established the Research Institute of Design, "Kyoshitsuen." Was active as a makie artist(craftsman sprinkling gold or silver power on lacquer) of Kyo-Rinpa school. A judge of the Imperial Art Exhibition. The book of his collection is "The Collection of the Design of Kyo-Makie."
