Title Kanzan with Chinese Poem
Biography Hayashi Roen(unknown but around the middle of Edo period) was a painter born in Osaka. Studied under Fukuhara Gogaku. Researched Chinese classic paintings in Sakai city and worked as a Chinese-style painter. Excelled at bird-and-flower and beautiful women paintings.

Jiun Sonja(1718-1804) was a monk of Shingonshu-sect, born in Osaka. Studied Buddhism under Ninko Teiki and Daibai Zenji. Known for his research on Sanskrit. Regarded as the greatest calligrapher in early modern Japan. The restorer of the "Shoboritsu" (Vinaya of the True Dharma).
