Biography Toyoda Tenko(1805-1864) was a Confucian scholar born in Hitachi Province(present Ibaraki Prefecture). Studied under Fujita Yukoku and edited the book, "The Great Japanese History."

Takeda Kounsai(1803-1865) was a feudal retainer in Mito Domain, born in Hitachi Province. Took the position of chief retainer to play the central role as a reformist of Mito Domain.

Kaneko Magojiro(1804-1861) was a feudal retainer in Mito Domain, born in Hitachi Province, and a leader of assassination plan of Ii Naosuke.
