Artist Kishi Renzan

Biography Kishi Renzan(1804-1859) was a Japanese painter born in Kyoto. Studied under Kishi family of Ganku.
Became the third generation member of the Kishi school after adopted to Kishi family. Served the Arisugawanomiya royal family since 1823. Influenced with the Shijo School and excelled at landscape and bird-and-flower paintings. Produced the decorative paintings of sliding doors of Imperial palace in 1855. His pupils include Kishi Chikudo and Kose Shoseki.
