Biography Tamamura Hokuto(1893-1951) was a Japanese-style painter born in Kyoto.
Studied painting under Kikuchi Hobun in the Kyoto Munincipal School of Fine Arts.
Accepted for Inten(the Japan Academy of Fine Arts) in 1915 and left Inten after submission to the 6th Inten Exhibition. Involved in avant-garde art movement and joined the groups such as Daiichi Sakka Domei(Primary Artists’ Alliance), Sanka and Tan’I Sanka(Unite Sanka).
