Artist Matsumoto Sansetsu
Title Landscape with Pavilion
Biography Matsumoto Sansetsu(around 1581-1676) was a painter born in Omi Province(present Shiga Prefecture). Studied the Kano school. Excelled in the style of Shubun and Sesshu. At an order from Matsudaira Sadayuki, the feudal lord of Iyo Matsuyama, moved to Matsuyama and became an official painter. His adopted son, Sangetsu succeeded the painting. Excelled at painting horses.
