Biography Reizei Tamechika(1823-1864) was a Japanese painter of Yamato-e born in Kyoto as the son of Kano Eitai. Adopted heir of Okada family serving as Kurododokoro(the Chamberlain’s office). Studied ancient shrines and temples to develop new style of Yamato-e. Painted about events, literature, history, figures and Buddhist paintings, based on Yusokukojitsu(usages or practices of the court or military households). Excelled at Japanese poems and calligraphies.

Soen-shonin (1786-1859) was the 31st head priest of Saikyo-ji Temple.
