Biography Nissen-shonin(1817-1890) was a monk of Nichiren-shu sect born in Kyoto. Studied under Hidenori Nichio at the age of 29, and entered into Hokke-shu sect. Studied under Mujaku Nichiyo of Awaji Ryusen-ji temple at the age of 32 and became a monk. Established the Honmon Butsuryushu, one school of Hokke-shu sect in 1857. Known as a poet and calligrapher as well.
