Biography Suzuki Kiitsu(1796-1858) was a painter born in Edo(present Tokyo). Known as the most prominent pupil of Sakai Hoitsu in the Edo Rimpa school. His wife was Suzuki Riyo, a sister of Suzuki Reitan, his senior fellow under Hoitsu and became an adopted son-in-law in the Suzuki family. Excelled at bird-and-flower paintings. Versed into the tea ceremony and haikai. Associated with a Confucian, Kameda Hosai, etc. Suzuki Shuitsu was his eldest son.
