Artist Nagasawa Rosetsu
Title Returning Home under the Moon
Biography Nagasawa Rosetsu(1754-1799) was a painter born into Uesugi family of the feudal retainer in Yodo Domain, Yamashiro Province(present Kyoto Prefecture). Later became an adopted son of Nagasawa family. Studied painting under Maruyama Okyo(1733-1795) and well-known for one of the best ten disciples of Okyo but later expelled from the Maruama school by Okyo due to his freewheeling character.
