Biography Ito Jakuchu(1716-1800) was a Japanese painter of the mid-Edo period. Born in Kyoto as a son of a green grocer. Studied Kano School style, Rimpa and Chinese Ming style painting by himself. Many of his paintings focused on traditional Japanese painting subjects, particularly chickens and other birds.
