Biography Tanomura Chokunyu(1814-1907) was a Japanese Nanga(Chinese-style painting) painter born in Bungo(present Oita Prefecture). Studied under Tanomura Chikuden and became an adopted heir. Associated with Tomioka Tessai in Kyoto. Devoted to the development of Japanese Nanga by establishing the Nanga School.
