Biography Soga Ryojin (1875-1971) was a monk of Jodo Shinshu sect and Buddhist thinker born in Niigata Prefecture. Graduated from Shinshu University (present Otani University). Entered into Joon-ji Temple(浄恩寺) in Niigata and became son-in-law adapted by the priest曽我恵南. Lecturer of Shinshu Otani-ha. President of Otani University and given the title of emeritus professor. Contributed to the development of ideological history on the modern Buddhism.
