Biography Reizei Tamechika(1823-1864) was a painter born in Kyoto as the son of Kano Eitai. Adopted heir of Okada family serving as the chamberlain’s office. Studied ancient shrines and temples to restore the old style of painting, Yamato-e. Painted about events, literature, history, figures and Buddhism, based on the usages or practices of the court or military households. Excelled at Japanese poems and calligraphies.
