Title Catching Fish
Biography Kosugi Hoan(1881-1964) was a Japanese-style painter born in Tochigi. A son of Kosugi Tomisaburo, a Shinto priest at Futaarayama Shrine in Tochigi Prefecture. Studied Western painting under Ioki Fumiya. Moved to Tokyo and entered into the art school run by Koyama Shotaro in 1900. Entered into the Taihei Association of Western Arts in 1902. Drew illustrations at Kinjiga magazine company run by Kunikida Doppo. Associated with Ogawa Usen. A member of the Imperial Arts Institute.
