Biography Gento Sokuchu (1729-1807) was a monk of Soto-shu sect born in Owari(present part of Aichi Prefecture). The 50th head priest of Eihei-ji Temple in Settsu Province. Lived in the Butsugen-ji Temple in Settsu Province. Succeeded Tainin Kokusen and became the 11th head priest of Entsu-ji Temple. Involved in the publication of "Shobogenzo" (Treasury of the True Dharma Eye). The restorer of Eihei-ji Temple.
