Title Haha-cho (Myna Birds) on the Willow Tree
Biography Kimura Tangen(1679-1767) was a Japanese painter born in Satsuma(present Kagoshima prefecture.) Studied under Kano Tanshin in Edo. Strongly influenced by Sesshu and excelled at ink paintings. Appointed to the official painter of Kagoshima Domain and also conferred to Hokkyo(the third highest rank of Buddhist priest) for his painting achievement.
