Biography Kitaoji Rosanjin (1883-1945) was a Japanese potter and calligrapher born into an ancestral Shinto priest family of Kamigamo-jinja shrine in Kyoto. In 1904, awarded at Japanese Fine Arts Exhibition after moved to Tokyo. While starting his business as antique art dealer, established a club for Gastronomy and in 1925, opened his business as a membership restaurant “Hoshigaoka-saryo(Star Mountain Tea House)”in Tokyo. Known for a revolutionary artist to create multi-faceted works on calligraphy, carving and pottery for the ultimate culinary quest.
