Biography Masuyama Sessai(1754-1819) was a Japanese painter born in Edo(present Tokyo) and the 5th lord of Ise-Nagashima(present Mie prefecture) Domain. Devoted himself to the founding Domain school by inviting Todoki Baigai and as Confucian scholar. Also Studied the paiting under Kimura Kenkado. Excelled at literay works, Landscape and bird-and-flower paintings

Tani gantan (1778-1840)

Uragami Gyokudo (1745-1820) was a literati painter born in Bizen Province. Left the domain, traveled around various places, and eventually settled in Kyoto. Studied nanga (Chinese style painting) by himself. Associated with other literati, such as Kimura Kenkado, Tani Buncho, and Okada Beisanjin. Contributed to the promotion of Sencha tea ceremony.
