Biography Irie Shikai(1862-1935) was a Japanese Nanga(Chinese-style painting) painter born in Fukuoka Prefecture. Studied under Oju Masuyama. Researched Nanga under Yoshitsugu Baizan and Haizan. Later worked on the governmental issues with Toyama Michiru. Was influenced by Tanomura Chikuden. Excelled at poem, calligraphy and painting. His collection book is "Hyakuwaraku."
