Title Hina Dolls
Biography Suga Tatehiko (1878-1963) was a Japanese-style painter born in Tottori Prefecture. His father, Daijiro was the former feudal retainer of Kurayoshi. Studied under Shiokawa Bunrin. Moved to Osaka with his family and his father died at the age of 13. Studied Tosa and Shijo schools by himself. Studied Japanese classical studies under Kamagaki Haruoka and Chinese studies under Yamamoto Ken. His wife was Yachiyo from Tomitaya, one of the three famous yujo in Meiji Period. Received the Imperial Award of Japan Arts Institute. A member of Osaka Arts Association and an honorary citizen of Osaka city.
