Biography Zuiko Chingyu(1743-1822) was a monk of Soto-shu sect born in Hizen Province(present Saga and Nagasaki Prefectures). Entered into the Buddhist priesthood from Tosho at Toko-ji Temple in Hizen. Went to Edo(present Tokyo) and studied under Hidekuni at Seisho-ji Temple in Edo. Later succeeded the teachings from Ryoten at Shozan-ji Temple in Nagato Province(present Yamaguchi Prefecture). Settled in Keiunken in Owari Province(present Aichi Prefecture) in his later years. Associated with Gocho Kankai and excelled at painting. The 36th head priest of Eihei-ji Temple and the 27th head priest at Bansho-ji Temple in Owari.

Jakushitsu Kenko (1753-1830) was a monk of Soto-shu sect born in Buzen Province(present Fukuoka and Oita Prefectures). Became a monk under Daiken Zenkai at Shooku-ji Temple in Bungo. Studied under Munagai Shinryo at Kozan-ji Temple in Nagato. Later studied under Kaigai Ryoten at Shoten-ji Temple and succeeded his teachings. The head priest at Gotoku-ji Temple in Musashi and Seiryo-ji Temple in Omi. Founded the Tennei-ji Temple in Omi.
