Biography Morikawa Sobun(1847−1902) was a painter born in Kyoto. Studied the Shijo school of painting under Maekawa Gorei and Hasegawa Gyokuho. Taught at Kyoto City Arts and Crafts School.

Maekawa Bunrei(1837-1917) was a painter born in Kyoto. The son of Maekawa Goryo, a pupil of Matsumura Keibun. Studied painting under his father Goryo and excelled at bird-and-flower painting.
