Biography Inokuma Genichiro(1902-1993) was a Western-style painter born in Takamatsu. Entered into the Western painting department of Tokyo School of the Arts and studied under Fujishima Takeji. Established the New Style of Arts Association with Koiso Ryohei and others. Studied under Henri Matisse in Paris. After returning to Japan, founded the Pure Arts Research Institute in Den-en Chofu, Tokyo to train the younger generations. Moved his base to New York and continued his works in Hawaii in his later years.
