Biography Takakusu Junjiro (1866-1945) was a Buddhism scholar and an Indian scholar born in Hiroshima. Taught at an elementary school at the age of 14 and entered the Ryukoku University at the age of 21. Became a son-in-law of Takakusu family in Kobe and studied abroad in British, Germany, and France. After returning to Japan, taught at the Tokyo Imperial University. Awarded the Order of Culture in 1944.
