Artist Suenaga Junichiro

Biography Suenaga Junichiro (1867-1913) was a Japanese journalist born as the first son of Shinto priest in Sumiyoshi Shrine, Fukuoka. Learned at Sugimura Jugo’s private school and later studied at the faculty of Law, the imperial university(presently the University of Tokyo.) Participated in the Sino-Japanese War as a correspondent.

Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902) was a Japanese Haiku poet born in Ehime Prefecure. Aspired to politician under the influence of Feedom and People' Rights Movement. Dropped out of the department of Japanese literature, Tokyo Imperial University. Devoted himself to inovate "Tanka" Japanese poem.
