Biography Nichiju-shonin (1549-1623) was a monk of Nichiren-shu sect, born in Wakasa(present west part of Fukui Prefecture) Province. Both Nichiken-shonin and Nichion-shonin were his younger brothers. The 12th head priest of Kyoto Honman-ji Temple and the 20th head priest of Minobusan Kuon-ji Temple. Reconstructed Hongyo-ji Temple in 1596. His writings include “Kenmonguanki”.

Nichiken-shonin(1560-1635) was a monk of Nichiren sect, born in Wakasa Province. The 21st head priest of Minobusan Kuon-ji Temple. Entered into priesthood under Nikkin of Chogen-ji Temple. Went to Kyoto and studied under Nichiju of Honman-ji Temple. Became the founder of Takagamine Danrin (Joshoji Temple in Kyoto) in 1627.

Nichion-shonin (1572-1642) was a monk of Nihciren-shu sect. The 22nd head priest of Minobusan Kuon-ji Temple. Entered into priesthood under Nichiju of Honman-ji Temple at the age of six. Upon accepting the devotion of Manju-in(a concubine of Tokugawa Ieyasu), founded Minobu Ono-san Honnon-ji Temple. His writings include “Gengikikigaki” and “Hokkekyotaii”.
