Biography Kobayashi Issa(1763-1827) was a haiku poet born in Shinano(present Nagano prefecture). Studied haiku poem under Mizoguchi Somaru, the third head of Katsushika School, Nirokuan Kobayashi Chikua, and Konnichian Morita Genmu. His famous haiku collection includes “Oragaharu,” etc.


Hayashi Junryo(1868-1941) was a monk of Tendaishu sect. The chief priest of Itoku-in, Zenkoji Temple in Nagano Prefecture. Known as Tanzaku collector, handwriting expert in Kobayashi Issa and scholar at Haikai.
