Biography Aoki Shukuya (1729?-1789?) was a Japanese Nanga (Chinese-style)painter born in Kyoto. Learned under Ike Taiga. Claimed himself as a descendant of a king of Mahan (present Korea). His cousin was a calligrapher, Kantenju. Called himself as Taigado, the second after Ike Taiga’s death.
