Artist Nakayama Koyo
Title Boating under Harvest Moon
Biography Nakayama Koyo (1717-1780)was a Nanga painter born into the second son of a wealthy merchant family in Tosa(present Kochi Prefecture). Learned Confucianism under a Confucian scholar of the domain Tominaga Ian, calligraphy under Seki Hoko and the painting under Sakaki Hyakusen.

Konakamura Kiyonori(1822-1895) was a Japanese classical scholar born in Edo(present Tokyo). Studied under Murata Haruno and Ino Hidenori and entered Motoori Uchitoo’s school. Became a professor at Tokyo Imperial University after Meiji era and an editor of “Kojiruien.”
