Biography Shida Yaba (1663-1740) was a Haiku poet born in Fukui Prefecture. Initially work as Banto(head clerk) at a money exchanger, the Mitsui Echigoya. Known for editor of “Sumidawara (sack of charcoal)” and as one of the ten representative pupils of Matsuo Basho.
