Biography Nomura Bunsho (1816-?)

Rennyo-shonin(1415-1499) was a monk of Jodo Shinshu sect, born in Kyoto. The 8th head priest of Hongan-ji Temple. Preached Hongan Nenbutsu teachings of Shinran-shonin through the Ofumi (Gobunsho) letters to people. Established Yamashina Hongan-ji Temple in Kyoto, Ishiyama Hongwan-ji Temple in Osaka, and etc. Known as the restorer of Jodo Shinshu sect.
