Biography Aoki Mokubei (1767-1833) was a Japanese potter born in Kyoto. Studied pottery under Okuda Eisen (1753-1811). Associated with Kimura Kenkado, Tanomura Chikuden, Rai Sanyo and Shinozaki Shochiku. Excelled at making tea vessels of akae, sometsuke-utsushi and kochi ware, etc.

Ogawa Usen (1868-1938) was a Japanese painter born in Kyoto. Studied western style painting under Honda Kinkichiro. Contributed illustrations for newspapers.
