Artist Nagasawa Rosetsu
Title Children Playing on the Elephant Back
Biography Nagasawa Rosetsu(1754-1799) was a painter born into Uesugi family of the feudal retainer in Yodo Domain, Yamashiro Province(present Kyoto Prefecture). Later became an adopted son of Nagasawa family. Studied painting under Maruyama Okyo(1733-1795) and well-known for one of the best ten disciples of Okyo but later expelled from the Maruama school by Okyo due to his freewheeling character.

Kunii Oyo(1868-1923) was a painter born in Kyoto, His father is Kunii Obun, a painter of Maruyama school. The descendant of the 6th Okyo.

Kobayashi Takusai(1831-1916) was a calligrapher born in Kyoto. Studied under Nukina Kaioku and excelled at seal engraving.
