Biography Ikeda Tsugumasa (1702-1776), the 3rd castellan of Okayama Domain. The fourth son of Ikeda Tsunamasa. Excelled at painting, calligraphy and Noh play.
Hakuin Ekaku (1685-1768) was a monk of Rinzaishu sect born in Suruga Province. Entered the Buddhist priesthood under Tanrei of Shoin-ji Temple at the age of 15. Became the head priest of Myoshin-ji Temple in Kyoto in 1718. His pupils include Tourei Enji, Suio Genro, and etc. Excelled at painting and calligraphy. Known as the restorer of Rinzaishu sect.
