Biography | Nagasawa Rosetsu (1754-1799) was a Japanese painter born into the samurai family in Yamashiro Province. Studied painting under Maruyama Okyo (1733-1795) and well-known for one of the best ten disciples of Okyo but later expelled from the Maruama School by Okyo due to his fanciful character. Goshun (1752-1811) was a Japanese painter born in Kyoto. Founder of Shijo school. Learned haiku and Nanga under Yosa Buson since 1773. Through associating with Maruyama Okyo, his painting style was changed into realistic one. Matsumura Keibun is his younger brother.
