Biography Utsumi Kichido(1851-1925) was a Japanese painter born in Fukui Prefecture. A son of Utsumi Chinsui. Studied Shijo school and Maruyama school painting under Mori Kansai and Shiokawa Bunrin. Later changed his painting style to nanga (Chinese-style painting) and established Nihon Nanga Kyokai (Japan Nanga Society). An active figure in the Kyoto art scene. Excelled at bird-and-flower painting.
