Biography Nagasawa Rosetsu (1754-1799) was a Japanese painter born into the samurai family in Yamashiro Province. Studied painting under Maruyama Okyo (1733-1795) and well-known for one of the best ten disciples of Okyo but later expelled from the Maruama School by Okyo due to his fanciful character.
