Biography Kuwayama Gyokushu (1746-1799) was a Japanese painter born in Kii Province. Learned Nanga (Chinese-style painting) under Sakurai Sekkan and Yanagisawa Kien. Known as the Three Great Nanga Painters of Kishu along with Gion Nankai and Noro Kaiseki. His works include "Gyokushu Gashu" (Picturesque Gyokushu).
