Biography | Ike Taiga (1723-1776) was a Japanese literati painter, born in Kyoto. The founder of Japanese Nanga (Chinese-style painting) school. Studied painting under Yanagisawa Kien and Gion Nankai. Established his own painting style, incorporating the traditions of Japanese painting and the expression methods of Western painting.
