Artist Ikkyu Sojun

Biography Ikkyu Sojun (1394-1481) was a Japanese monk of Rinzaishu. The 47th chief priest of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto. Practiced under Kaso Sodon of Daitokuji Temple and succeeded the teachings. There is the speculation that his was the illegitimate child of emperor GoKomatsu. Lived in Shuon-an, Kyotanabe.
