Biography Aoki Mokubei (1767-1833) was a Japanese potter born in Kyoto. Studied pottery under Okuda Eisen (1753-1811). Associated with Kimura Kenkado, Tanomura Chikuden, Rai Sanyo and Shinozaki Shochiku. Excelled at making tea vessels of akae, sometsuke-utsushi and kochi ware, etc.
